A GUY GETS A TATTOO Of THE THEBE MAGUGU LOGO

                               Created by IG: Mihlee_n

Thebe Magugu is slowly becoming a household name .

Thebe Magugu is a Johannesburg based South African luxury brand founded and ran by South African, Thebe Magugu, a 28 year old fashion designer .

On the 6th July on Instagram @inky_tatoo_h posted a picture of a tattoo they made of the Thebe Magugu logo AKA the sisterhood emblem (which was created to adorn their ready-to-wear collections as homage to the matriorchal figure that has supported and inspired him through his life, studies and career .) They captioned it " @thebemagugu for @doyouknow.jay ". The tattoo is merely a symbol of solidifying the power that Thebe has in the industry .

He has won over many hearts, mine included, for example for my uni entrance portfolio I used his aesthetic as inspiration . The love for The Magugu brand has crossed over the South African boarders . Thebe wining the 2019 LVMH prize was the perfect way to introduce this beautiful brand to the world . His work has been hit after hit and my personal favorite pieces from the Magugu brand is the fingerprint bahemia dress , Sunday best boots (ankle length) and the leaking pen shirt by Thebe for AZ Factory .

Speaking about favorite pieces, my favorite thing about the brand is their work has an essence of rich African traditional storytelling which makes his work feel very intimate and personal . I've never actually physically witnessed his work, I've only engaged with them through my screens and yet I feel this way about it .

If there is something we can learn from Thebe Magugu, it is to " just do it ". It sounds cliché but that's it . I mean like Thebe is from Kimberly, a small mining town in the Northern Cape. He studied at LISOF and two years after he started his label in 2016 he had a dream and he went for it so you should do the same .

I can't wait to see what is next for Thebe.

To shop his work, head over to www.thebemagugu.com and those of us who don't have the budget yet you can keep up with his lastest work by following @Thebemagugu on Instagram .
